tunnel This tunnel emerges beneath towering mountains and was carved by the stream that now flows out the other side as a waterfall. It is pitch-black inside and traversable only during summer, when the water running through it is neither dangerously high nor frozen and slick. |

marsh The tall grasses growing up through these shallow waters are ideal habitat for fish, amphibians, and waterbirds. Much of the water dries up or drains away during the summer, leaving a pungent expanse of thick, black mud. |

Situated high on the eastern slopes, these alpine meadows are largely free of trees, and instead feature open expanses of ground-covering lichens and mosses. Prey here consists mainly of caribou, lemmings and and snowy hares. |
